History of COPS

Coorg Public School has a vibrant and dynamic history. It has evolved from a Primary school to become the most culturally diverse, co-ed, process and technology-oriented, globally conscious school in India. Its history has been a truly unique mixture of dramatic innovation and strong tradition.

The idea of starting Coorg Public School was conceived by four entrepreneurs of rural background. Their own experience of being schooled in rural vernacular institutions with poor facilities triggered in them a noble thought of providing the local students the best facilities and opportunity to study in English medium school and be on par with their urban counterparts. The pioneering effort of these five visionaries resulted in setting up the first ICSE school of the highest standard in 1996 in the picturesque hilly district of Kodagu.

The Founder Trustees of the school are Mr. M N Belliappa, Mr. K A Subbaiah, Mr. M M Thimmaiah, Mr. K A Poonacha and Prof. M D Nanjunda. This institution received tremendous response since its inception and today it stands tall with its motto “In Pursuit of Excellence”, providing quality education to local students and students from different parts of India and overseas.
